A long-time lieutenant of the Maori King has been selected to lead the executive arm of Waikato-Tainui, Te Arataura.
Rahui Papa is the new chairman of Te Arataura, elected by a majority of the committee's members at a regular board meeting.
He replaces Tom Roa, who has headed Te Arataura since 2011.
Rahui Papa has thanked Mr Roa for his conscientious stewardship.
Tom Roa is still a member on Te Arataura and is also a Waikato-Tainui negotiator.
