Relationship to help Maori businesses

7:26 pm on 23 September 2013

Two Maori business developers will enter into a relationship which could lead to bigger loans being available to new Maori businesses.

Poutama Trust is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Maori Women's Development Incorporation at the end of the month.

The incorporation offers business loans of up to $50,000 to Maori women and their whanau.

Trust chief executive Richard Jones says it has investment capabilities and is talking to the incorporation to see how they can share services.

That could mean Poutama helps clients with a loan top up of perhaps $10,000, he says.
