Maori Party to meet with all political parties before election

7:37 am on 10 October 2013

Maori Party co-leader Te Ururoa Flavell says the party plans to meet with all other political parties in the run-up to next year's general election - including Mana.

The Mana movement wants the Maori Party leadership and its membership to think carefully about meeting with Mana to talk about collaborating and providing a united voice for Maori .

Mr Flavell says the Maori Party is focussed on making sure that it is part of any Government that is formed after the election.

He says that means being in talks with all political parties because being in Government doesn't rely on Mana.
