Researchers at the University of Waikato have launched their book of works about Maori customary law after more than 10 years in the writing.

Te Matapunenga: A Compendium of References of the Concepts and Institutions of Maori Customary Law includes historical accounts from iwi leaders, scholars, judges and tribunals, as well as modern interpretations of the terms and concepts.

Professor Alex Frame says there is a lot of confusion about Maori customary law and hopes the book will be used as a reference for policy makers, students and other academics.
