A survey of 500 people in the Te Tai Hauauru electorate shows 55% believe they are worse off under the current government.
According to research carried out by TVNZ's Te Karere programme, 23% say conditions are no different, while just under three-quarters (73%) think the Government is heading in the wrong direction.
Respondents say jobs, wages, the economy, education and healthcare top the list of issues that will affect how they will vote in the next general election.
Of those surveyed, 81% said they were highly likely to cast a vote.
The survey questioned 500 Maori roll voters in the Western Maori seat and has a margin of error of 4.3%.
