Two Native American scholars will travel to New Zealand this month to give a public lecture at Waikato University on historical trauma, traditional knowledge and well-being.
Professor Karina Walters and Associate Professor Gregory Cajete are being brought to New Zealand by Nga Pae o te Maramatanga to be a part of their international review board.
Karina Walters, a recipient of the Fulbright Award and member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, directs the Indigenous Wellness Research Institute at the University of Washington.
Gregory Cajete, a Tewa Indian from New Mexico, is the author of five books on Native American education, history and philosophy.
