Silver Ferns coach, Waimarama Taumaunu, is again in the running to become Maori Sports Coach of the Year.

She won the accolade last year, and will this year square up against rugby coaches Sean Horan and Colin Cooper for the title.

The Olympic sprint canoeist Lisa Carrington - of Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki - has been shortlisted to become Senior Maori Sportswoman.

Last year she was crowned the supreme winner at the national Maori sports awards.

In the senior men's category, Jason Wynyard of Waitakere is a contender for his wood chopping.

The awards will be held at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau on 30 November.
