1000 Waikato homes to be insulated for free

9:21 pm on 14 November 2013

One thousand whanau in Waikato will have their homes insulated for free under a Waikato District Health Board initiative.

The Warm Our Whare scheme, which is run by the DHB's Maori health service, Te Puna Oranga, has already insulated 505 homes in the area.

It says cold and damp homes bring on a wide range of health issues, including respiratory problems and rheumatic fever.

And it is looking forward to giving many more families an opportunity to prevent those issues.
