Two Maori tertiary students will join a group of young leaders heading to China on Friday to foster links with the Chinese.
Ten people were chosen by different organisations to take part in the 10 day tour, in memory of Rewi Alley, a New Zealand man who dedicated 60 years to the people of China.
An Auckland University of Technology student, Tuhoe Tamairapa, and Marama Kainamu-Wheeler of Otago University, have been chosen by the Maori Party to attend.
Ms Kainamu-Wheeler, who is studying for a Masters degree, says she and Mr Tamairapa are excited to share their Maori stories, kai and language with the Chinese.
She says the cultural experience will be great and plans to sing a waiata on the Great Wall of China.
Maori Affairs Minister Pita Sharples is hosting a farewell dinner for the group on Thursday evening.
