Lincoln University says its agriculture partnership with iwi will help boost the country's economy through exports.

The university has agreements with a number of iwi, including Ngai Tahu and two Tainui tribes.

In Waikato, it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Ngati Koroki Kahukura and Ngati Haua, with the intention of creating an agricultural training centre in Waikato, as well as developing a new farm certificate course.

Lincoln assistant vice-chancellor Hirini Matunga says these partnership will help develop land productivity and improving agricultural practices which will contribute to growing the Maori economy and the country's profits.
