A hui in Hamilton has outlined what will be covered by an Environment Protection Authority board of inquiry hearing into a Tainui proposal for a major freight base in Hamilton.
The hearing is due to start on 6 May.
The tribe's commercial arm is bidding to build a transport hub, industrial and commercial areas, and housing in Ruakura.
More than 700 jobs could be created within the first five years of the development.
The board of inquiry is being led by Judge Melanie Harland, who asked the forty or so people at a pre-hearing in Hamilton on Tuesday for their feedback the setting of some ground rules for the inquiry.
The hui agreed to talk about how much noise the development and increased traffic the freight base would create.
Judge Harland also allowed a short timeframe for some residents to consider if they would call upon an expert witness to represent their argument during the hearing.
