Laid-off workers to get another payout

Former Rotorua Tachikawa sawmill workers, many of them Maori, are to collect another payout from the firm's receiver, KordaMentha.

About 120 people lost their jobs in October, and got an initial redundancy instalment before Christmas.

The worker's group that represents about 80 of them, First Union, says KordaMentha has written to laid off staff to tell them.

First Union says the receiver has plans to make a final payout sometime in the future.
