Gisborne to host kapa haka competition

Turanganui a Kiwa is getting amped to host the National Secondary School Kapa haka competition in July.

The three-day event will be held in Gisborne and will attract 42 school teams from around the country.

The lead negotiator for Te Aitanga a Mahaki, Willie Te Aho, says 20,000 people will come through the festival and excitement is building amongst his people to host it.

He says work is underway to ensure there will be enough facilities for the kaitautoko (supporters).
