The kohanga board is under heavy scrutiny over allegations of mis-spending by the staff of the trust's subsidiary company Te Pataka Ohanga.

Sir Michael Cullen is working as an independent advisor to implement recommendations made by the Waitangi Tribunal, to improve the relationship between kohanga and the Crown.

Te Runanga O Taranaki Whanui chairperson Neville Baker says Sir Michael should address the mis-spending claims.

Sir Michael Cullen's work on repairing the relationship between the Crown and kohanga has been on hold since allegations of mis-spending were revealed by the Native Affairs programme on Maori Television.
