A small group of people have taken part in a half marathon in Whanganui to raise money for Kaiwhaiki Marae.
Three people ran, one person cycled and another rowed the 21 kilometre stretch from Putiki Marae to Kaiwhaiki.
Participant Miriama Cribb, of Nga Paerangi, said $600-$700 had been raised but it was hoped that would rise to $1000.
The hapu had had some big losses and it was good to do something proactive to contribute to the marae.
The putea will go towards upgrading facilities at the marae.
