Labour reopens Tamaki Makaurau nominations

7:21 pm on 23 May 2014

The Labour Party is re-opening nominations for the Tamaki Makaurau seat.

Its selection process to find a candidate has been messy.

The party recently decided not to allow the broadcaster Shane Taurima to enter, after an investigation found he used Televison New Zealand's resources for political work.

Hopefuls have until Wednesday evening to join the sole nominee on the list, teacher Will Flavell.

Labour says it regrets any adverse impact on Mr Taurima's professional reputation, after the party decided they would not allow him to run in the contest.

It says it still has a high regard for Mr Taurima's abilities, and believe he has a positive future the arts.
