The Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust says it has a responsibility to look after Maori living in the capital, many of whom come from the Four Winds.

Trust chairperson Neville Baker said with Treaty settlement packages in hand, tribes were powerful business players.

He said a collaboration of the settlements was a market for all iwi, and it was something that hadn't yet been looked at seriously.

Mr Baker said Port Nicholson Block Settlement Trust sits in Wellington with access to a number of resources, under the rights it has.

He said there could be an opportunity to share those rights and examine how there might be some investment in Wellington by other settlement entities.
