Three names are in the ring for the Labour Party candidacy in Tamaki Makaurau.

Will Flavell, Reina Harris and Peeni Henare have all been nominated to stand for the party at September's general election.

A selection meeting will take place in Mangere, Auckland, on Sunday to determine the successful candidate.

The party recently reopened its selection process after losing two leading prospects, broadcasters Shane Taurima and Julian Wilcox.

Mr Taurima was forced to resign from his role at TVNZ after using its facilities to carry out work for Labour; the party subsequently decided not to allow him to stand.

Maori Television confirmed Mr Wilcox, an executive there, would not be standing.
