Descendants want vote released

7:48 am on 17 July 2014

Members of a Palmerston North tribe are demanding to see the results of how people voted over the setting up of a body that would handle an urban authority's Treaty settlement.

Some Rangitane ki Manawatu descendants have been campaigning to stop the Crown signing off on a package for Tanenuiarangi Manawatu Incorporation.

Those descendants claim the Office of Treaty Settlements has not released the results of the votes and that they are told the matter is "with the Ministers".

The members have called a hui on Thursday night to discuss the issue, and have invited government minister and electorate MP Tariana Turia.
