Help available for flooded whanau

7:41 am on 30 July 2014

Anyone who knows of whanau needing help after recent Northland storms should let the Moerewa community trust know, it says.

A number of families in Moerewa and the small settlements on the back roads, were flooded out of their homes, and lost furniture and other belongings.

Awe Koni, of the town's He Iwi Kotahi Trust, said often the families most in need didn't say so - and that was when others needed to speak up on their behalf.

The Far North District Council has a storm relief fund $180,000 - half of it from the Government.
