The MP for Te Tai Tokerau says Internet Mana leader Hone Harawira should accept the results a recount for the seat following last month's general election and move on.

Mr Harawira applied for a recount of the almost 22,000 votes cast after losing the Maori seat to Labour's Kelvin Davis by 739 votes. This has resulted in Mr Davis extending his lead by two votes to 9712.

Mr Harawira asked for the recount as he believed some polling booths in the electorate did not have any Maori roll voting papers, voters had long distances to travel to cast their votes, and some were turned away because they did not have their EasyVote cards.

A spokesperson from the commission said a judge could respond to those issues in the next few days.

Mr Davis said the commission does make it easy for voters to practise their democratic right and Mr Harawira needs to move on.
