Iwi can compare progress - Parata

8:55 am on 10 February 2015

New school statistics mean tribes can chart their performance against the success or failure of their neighbours, Education Minister Hekia Parata says.

Data detailing 38 iwi and their partners and covering early childhood participation rates, national standards figures, and NCEA achievement rates has been published.

Ms Parata said the profiles give iwi an opportunity to look at each other and will make them consider and compare their own progress.

Ms Parata said through that collaboration and tribal pride, leaders could look to record a rise in performance every year.
