Auckland waterfront spectators during the Rugby World Cup will be treated to a mix of traditional kapa haka and contemporary Maori cultural and musical performances around the purpose-built waka shaped pavilion.
Waka Maori project director Ren Blair says the festivities will have a spectacular impact on visitors with a huge variety of performances showcasing Maori culture to an international audience.
He says a full programme will be announced over the coming weeks, with entertainment from a popular Far North reggae band 1814, violinist Elena, Tuhoe singer Whirimako Black and singer-songwriter Maisey Rika already confirmed.
