Final farewell for Waikato master carver

10:40 am on 7 October 2011

The whanau of Waikato master carver Richard Tiki Green says he'll be remembered through his carvings, including whakairo at Huntly's Waahi Pa, which is the home marae of the Kingitanga movement.

Mr Green was also responsible for ornate carvings gifted on behalf of the movement to dignitaries including Governors-General and heads of state.

A nephew, Rahui Papa, says Richard Tiki Green passed on his life skills before he died.

Mr Papa says his 74-year-old uncle will be buried on Friday morning on Taupiri Mountain.
