Institute delays Rotorua conference because of clash

8:19 pm on 2 February 2012

The Maori Research Institute has decided to postpone holding its first national conference in Rotorua until mid-September.

The conference - which has the theme: Maori lands, business opportunities and challenges - was originally going to be held in May.

But organiser Dr Gunar Magesan says he has found out the dates clash with a Maori Geographic Informations System conference in the city.

He says conference sessions include biological farming, responses to climate change, improving production of marginal land, and the relationshsip between the Maori community and Crown Research Institutes.

Dr Magesan says the progamme for the conference should be finalised in the next couple of weeks.
