Live session: Pokey Lafarge

10:00 am on 27 March 2015

Pokey LaFarge on achieving timelessness with his music and the complex social issues that inspire his songs.

Drawing from a rich musical heritage of country, bluegrass, ragtime, dixieland and jazz, Pokey Lafarge's music could well have been written in the 1930s if it weren't for references to healthcare plans, and phones 'buzzing'.

Last in New Zealand just over a year ago for WOMAD, LaFarge is back in the country for a six-date tour with his live band and he joined Music 101's Kirsten Johnstone in the studio to have a chat and play a couple of songs from his just-released album, Something In The Water.
