Record Store Day: It’s the ninth anniversary of Record Store Day and this Saturday local stores are celebrating with a handful of performances and exclusive releases. If you’re in Auckland, Real Groovy, Southbound Records and Marbecks will be key. As will Slowboat Records and Rough Peel Music in Wellington, Galaxy Records in Christchurch and Vinyl Countdown in New Plymouth. For a full look at what’s up around the country, Dub Dot Dash has got you sorted.

Zen Mantra: With his latest album out tomorrow, Zen Mantra – the solo project of Yumi Zouma’s Sam Perry – is heading out on a tour of the North Island. First up is a free show at Rough Peel Music as part of Record Store Day, before another later on in the evening at Meow. For that one, he’ll be joined by Laid Back Country China and The Bent Folk. Get the lowdown here.

D Double E: Essential grime legend D Double E is playing two shows in New Zealand this weekend. Known for his work with the N.A.S.T.Y Crew and, more recently, the acclaimed Newham Generals, it’ll be the first time the East London MC has visited our shores. Tickets for both shows – in Auckland and Christchurch – are available via iTicket.

Miloux: With her debut EP out now, Miloux – aka Rebecca Melrose – plays this Friday at Whammy Bar as part of a fundraising show which will see money going towards start-up costs for a new all ages venue. Joining her on the line-up is Sun Blood, Soltree, and Gangs Nel. Entry is $10 on the door.

121 Underground House Rave: Do you like “deep dark techno” parties that go “until the deep dark hours of the morning”? 121 Underground House Rave goes down this weekend at James Smith Corner Basement, an underground car park on Cuba St. The line-up includes Mongo Skato, DJ Poochie, k2k and Borrowed cs. It’s on from 9pm and presales are available from Under The Radar.

Waterfalls: Wellington solo artist Amber Johnson (aka Waterfalls) is heading out of town to preview the songs from her forthcoming self-titled EP. The first of those shows take place this Saturday at Dunedin’s Crown Hotel and she’ll be joined by Elan Vital and Embedded Figures, who we recently featured as part of our Introducing series. Entry is $10.
