Farewell Great Job!: A place for all ages

1:01 pm on 15 July 2016

For the past two years, Great Job! has been a staple for both local and touring bands in Palmerston North.

Since opening its doors, the all-ages alcohol-free venue has helped solidify the local music scene with well-attended, high-energy shows being held most weekends. But now founders Harry Lilley, David Stevens and Cam Wilkes have decided to step aside from running the venue to focus on other projects, and to let someone else take charge of running shows around town.

Although Palmerston North isn’t known as a cultural hub, all-ages venues like The Stomach have existed in various forms for over 25 years; and it’s this inclusive attitude that the people behind Great Job! are all about. The emphasis on well-organised and safe gigs have made the venue a favourite stop for bands embarking on tours around the country.

We went along to the final show to catch up with the people behind it all, as well as few musicians and regulars.

Featured musicians:

Bottlekidz, Dfresh, Alpha Beta Gamma, Robin,Token Effort, Soda Boyz, Buska Dimes, Terry (Melbourne), Droid Rage, Slower Motion, Researchintospeed
