With her much awaited (and much hyped) sophomore album Melodrama set to be released in just one week’s time on 16 June, everyone’s favourite former teen sensation Lorde has announced she will be touring the world - and this time the world includes lil old us!

That’s right: in addition to Europe, UK and Australia, New Zealand will be blessed with six shows all taking place this November.

Nestled in between her European tour dates and her (boo hiss) Aussie tour dates, Ella Yelich-O'Connor will take the stage in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, the latter of whom will be privy to three performances from the precocious pop star.

In a savvy move by the singer, the New Zealand shows will take place at smaller venues: her Auckland performances at the Powerstation, for instance, will be able to hold just over 1000 people each.

While this will no doubt create envy and scorn between the haves and the have nots, the decision to provide her homeland with a more intimate experience is a canny one that will go a long way to cementing a fan base hooked on her brand of Antipodean authenticity.

Promising more dates to be released and (!) birthing a new song overnight, Lorde remains a giver of many gifts to our fair nation, and as ever we weep with gratitude.

LORDE'S NZ TOUR DATES

Dunedin – 7 November.

Christchurch – 8 November.

Wellington – 11 November.

Auckland – 12, 14 and 15 November.
