LORDE TURNS 21

Lorde, our favourite former teen sensation, drifted further away from the youth that once defined her this week by turning the big two-one.

Celebrating her birthday in Dunedin on the first day of the NZ leg of her Melodrama world tour, Lorde told the hosts of the Aussie edition of The Project that she would be doing a yardie.

While no photographic or anecdotal evidence has yet emerged to confirm whether Lorde did in fact partake in the hallowed binge drinking tradition of sculling an entire yard glass of alcohol, we can at least feel reassured that she did not go ahead with her plan to sub in wine for beer given that she is at present still alive.

While Lorde - whose opulence-shaming song 'Royals' was just licenced to Cadillac - has a total of zero tickets left for sale to her final NZ shows, those who missed out can take solace in this video of the songstress herself performing a Bruce Springsteen mashup in Christchurch on Wednesday.

FAR RIGHT POISONS NZ

Omg guys did you know the far right, in the form of mischievous grouch and newly minted deputy PM Winston Peters, is poisoning New Zealand?

Apparently neither did anyone else until Villainesse associate editor and freelance columnist Ben Mack penned an op-ed for the Washington Post saying just that, and warning that “while [Jacinda] Ardern may be the public face, it’s the far right pulling the strings and continuing to hold the nation hostage”.

It’s a bold call to say the least, and while many on social media have, shall we say, disputed the analysis, no take could beat that of Mack’s own employer.

Cold as ice.

GARETH MORGAN CATS

You know that feeling when you spectacularly lose an election that you poured millions of your own dollars into and then go on a social media tirade ridiculing the tragic death of the new Prime Minister’s internationally beloved cat?

Well Gareth Morgan does!

After a brief period of uncharacteristic silence, Morgan got back on his cat hating bulls*** in a big way this week following the news that Paddles, Jacinda Ardern's beautiful, thumb-ed cat, had been hit by a car and killed.

Good stuff Gareth! So good to have you back!

TREVOR MALLARD BABIES

Our brand new Parliament got down to business this week and, predictably, many wacky antics ensued.

One of the wackiest, and certainly the most charming, of these antics has involved Trevor Mallard’s spree of holding babies.

On Wednesday in a Parliamentary reading of the “Paid Leave and Employment Protection Amendment Bill” he held one baby. Then he held another baby. Then he HELD BOTH BABIES AT ONCE.

I guess he just really likes babies, you guys.
