NZ woman killed in boat crash in Bermuda

A New Zealander has died following a boat crash in Bermuda.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed a report by Bermudian newspaper - the Royal Gazette - that Mary Elizabeth McKee, 62, was the victim of a fatal boat crash in Hamilton Harbour last night (local time).

Ms McKee died from her injuries after she being thrown overboard at about 10.40pm, it reports.

Bermuda Police told the Royal Gazette a 26-year-old local man was driving a 17ft vessel when it collided with the 9ft Zodiac inflatable carrying Ms McKee and two other visitors who were all thrown overboard.

Ms McKee's husband, 69, who was driving the Zodiac, and a 26-year-old British man both received serious injuries and are in hospital in intensive care.

A man has been arrested, police said.

Hamilton Harbour is near where the America's Cup sailing race is being held.
