Search officials in Indonesia say they have located a boat carrying 60 asylum seekers that was feared to have capsized.

They say the empty boat was found on Saturday on the island of Lombok, east of Bali. The people aboard are believed to have fled.

The eight metre wooden fishing boat was reported missing on Thursday after leaving Bali on Wednesday.

Those aboard, from Afghanistan and Pakistan, were heading for Australia.

On Sunday a tanker rescued around 120 asylum seekers from their sinking wooden boat. They were also bound for Australia.
