Obama's running mate? Not me, says Clinton

United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton denies media reports that President Barack Obama will ask her to be his running mate in this year's presidential election.

The ABC reports widespread speculation that Mr Obama will reshuffle his administration and send Vice-President Joe Biden to the state department.

"That is not going to happen," Mrs Clinton says. "That's like saying, 'If the Olympic Committee called you up and said are you ready to run the marathon, would you accept?' Well, it's not going to happen.

"I'm very confident about the outcome of this election... Joe Biden, who's a dear friend of ours, has served our country and served the president very well".

With an approval rating of 68%, Mrs Clinton's popularity is second only to that of the First Lady, Michelle Obama.

Mrs Clinton says she is confident Mr Obama will win a second term without her help.
