A roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan has killed 10 police officers from the Wardak province.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Meanwhile, two Taliban suspects were shot dead outside the governor's office in southern Kandahar province.
The Kandahar governor says they got through security checks but pulled out their guns when guards became suspicious and stopped them.
A statement from the governor's office says it was the ninth attempt to target the governor in the past three years.
Taliban forces launched a major assault on the capital Kabul nearly two weeks ago, attacking parliament, NATO headquarters and foreign embassies.
