Further curfew imposed

10:18 am on 6 May 2012

The military in Egypt has ordered the continued detention of about 300 people arrested during clashes with the security forces on Friday.

They will be held in custody for 15 days while charges are considered.

The area around the Defence Ministry in Cairo is now calm, but a curfew will be in force again on Saturday night, from 11pm - 6am.

The disturbances followed the deaths of about 20 people on Wednesday when unidentified attackers set upon demonstrators outside the ministry.

Presidential polls will be held in three weeks.
