Former Wallabies captain Michael Lynagh has been cleared by his doctor to return to his home in London having recovered sufficiently from a stroke last month while holidaying in Brisbane.
The stroke severely damaged his eyesight. Lynagh, 48, was taken to hospital on 16 April with headaches and blurred vision.
Tests revealed that he had a rare and often fatal type of stroke caused by a blocked vertebral artery, which caused him to lose 45% of the vision in his left eye.
He announced on Twitter on Tuesday that doctors had given him the green light to return to Britain, and he hoped to do so by the end of next week:
"I realise how lucky I have been," he tweeted.
