New migrant policy in NW Pakistan

A tougher policy on Afghan migrants is coming into force in part of north-western Pakistan, which means up to one million Afghans could face deportation.

Officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which borders Afghanistan, say they will no longer tolerate Afghan migrants who are not officially registered as refugees.

The BBC reports the ruling does not apply to 1.7 million Afghans resident in Pakistan with refugee status.
