Wild weather hits Sydney

9:34 pm on 10 August 2012

Wild winds have brought down trees and powerlines, cutting electricity to 12,000 homes in Sydney.

A school had to be evacuated on the north coast this Friday afternoon after strong winds blew the roof off a building, causing minor injuries to one of the pupils.

Sydney Fire Brigade says it has had 70 call-outs relating to the rough conditions, which brought cold temperatures and winds up to 100 kilometres an hour.
