500,000 credit card numbers stolen - AFP

Australian Federal Police have begun an investigation into the theft of 500,000 credit card numbers.

AFP says more than $A25 million in fraudulent transactions have been racked up on the credit cards.

The ABC reports the agency is working with overseas police and the finance industry. It says several companies have had their computer systems compromised.
