Chicago producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are to oversee the 2013 Oscars ceremony for the he Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The pair were executive producers on the 2002 hit musical, which collected six Oscars including best picture.
They were also producers of Hairspray and The Bucket List in 2007.
The BBC reports their appointment hints at a more traditional Oscar ceremony which could include a variety of comedy, song and dance.
The 85th Academy Awards will be held on 24 February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, formerly the Kodak.
