Factory strike over holiday work

5:56 am on 7 October 2012

Thousands of employees at a Chinese factory that makes Apple's iPhones are on strike over higher quality control demands and having to work during an extended national holiday.

China Labour Watch in New York said several iPhone 5 production lines at Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory were paralysed after up to 4000 workers went on strike.

They were also angry they were being forced to work during the Golden Week holiday.

Last month, a brawl involving 2000 people broke out at a Foxconn factory in Taiyuan city.
