Iranian ships sent to Sudan

10:32 am on 30 October 2012

A small Iranian naval flotilla docked in Port Sudan on Monday morning.

The IRNA news agency said the vessels include a corvette, the Shahid Naqdi, and a freighter, the Kharg, which can carry three helicopters.

The BBC reports they arrived six days after explosions destroyed an arms factory in Khartoum.

Sudan has complained to the UN that Israel bombed the factory, which is believed to have been operated by Iran.

Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday. Four planes were involved.
