A court in England has sentenced a man to prison for 20 years for smuggling Nigerian children into Britain to be sold for European prostitution gangs.

Osezua Osolase, 42, a recycling worker, who has HIV, used African witchcraft rituals to terrorise the children into submission.

After a trial lasting six weeks in Canterbury Crown Court, Osolase was found guilty of five charges of trafficking, one of rape and one of sexual activity with a child.

Judge Adele Williams told him he was devoid of conscience and compassion. She recommended that Osolase be deported when he has served his sentence.

The BBC reports Osolase was stopped at Stansted airport in April 2011 while attempting to board a plane.
