More Sri Lankans return home

8:05 am on 5 November 2012

The Immigration Department in Australia says another 11 men from Sri Lanka have decided to return home rather than having their refugee claims processed.

AAP reports this brings the total number of Sri Lankans who have returned home in 2012 to 126.

Five of the men left Perth on Friday and the other six departed Christmas Island on Saturday. The numbers were issued on Sunday.

Since 13 August, people arriving in Australia by boat without a visa run the risk of being transferred to processing centres in Nauru or Papua New Guinea.
