Russian growth slows

Growth in Russia's economy slowed to 2.9% in the third quarter this year.

The economy, which is reliant on oil and gas exports, saw growth of 4.9% and 4% respectively in the first two quarters this year.

The statistics office says the latest figure of 2.9% growth for the third quarter 2012 is a preliminary assessment.

AFP reports growth in the third quarter last year was 5%.
