Israel bombs another 100 sites in Gaza

10:59 pm on 21 November 2012

The Israeli military says it bombed more than a hundred sites in Gaza overnight, as diplomatic moves continue to try to secure a ceasefire with the Palestinian group, Hamas.

The Israelis say 50 of the targets were underground rocket launchers, the BBC reports.

Israel says it intercepted two Palestinian rockets fired towards the south overnight.

At daybreak, the ABC reports that there is still no ceasefire or let-up in fighting: Israel is continuing its bombardment of Gaza while Hamas is firing rockets into Israel.

United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, who arrived in the region today, has held talks with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

She is meeting Palestinian president Mahmood Abbas on the West Bank, before travelling on to Egypt.
