Snow in northern England and Scotland

7:24 am on 2 December 2012

Snow has fallen across parts of northern England and southern Scotland early on Saturday and more forecast over the weekend. Up to 25mm settled in some areas.

Light snowfall was reported in Cumbria, Teesside and County Durham, with an inch of snow falling in the Pennines and the Southern Uplands.

Two ski resorts in Scotland are open for business this weekend because there is now enough snow cover.

The BBC reports the Cairngorms range has had snowfalls since October.
