Budapest airport in Hungary is closed after the control tower developed electrical problems on Friday morning.

Flights are being diverted to Vienna, Bratislava and other airports.

Officials said the airport may not reopen until about 10am on Saturday, but that was subject to change.

The BBC reports Ferenc Liszt International Airport is the largest in Hungary, handling some nine million passengers per year.

It is partly owned by Hochtief of Germany.
