Govt apology made to lesbian judge

The government in Chile has formally apologised to a judge who lost custody of her three daughters eight years ago because she is a lesbian.

The apology at a ceremony in Santiago, came after the Inter-American Court of Human Rights condemned Chile.

It also ordered the government to pay Judge Karen Atala more than $US70,000 in compensation.
