Little progress on tax changes

8:02 am on 18 December 2012

A meeting of state and federal treasurers in Canberra has ended with little progress on tax reform.

The ABC reports they agreed to a timetable for a review of the GST threshold for online purchases.

The states have welcomed the agreement, but the Commonwealth is concerned it could cost more to collect the tax than it would raise.

Before the meeting, Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan said the states had some heavy lifting to do on tax reform. He did not offer any compensation in return.
